INDIA’S TOWER OF VICTORY

I got a few advise from a few friends that not every monument in India (Like everywhere else) is not worth visiting, and that’s why I did my research and selected what I really wanted to see.  I understand that most of the time the tours have all ready a set itinerary, but you can do customize tours too, and thats what I did in India.

While this is not a Hindu monument neither is not the tallest structure in India as a few people said, still, is a beautiful structure with allots of details and of course, allot of history.

This is a 73 meters high tower that was built in 1193 by the first muslim ruler of Delhi, Qutab-ud-din Aibak immediately after the defeat of Delhi’s last Hindu kingdom. This is the Qutub Minar.

The first Muslim ruler of Delhi, started the construction of the Qutab Minar in 1200 AD, but could couldn’t finish it. His successorIltutmush, added three more stories, and in 1368, Firoz Shah Tughlak constructed the fifth and the last part of the tower.

Don’t forget this place is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, so it has a lot of History and because that you will find a lots of visitors, thats why sometimes you will have to take photos between peoples legs.

Something that caught my attention was the architecture, even that this was build by the first muslim in India, it still has a strong Hindu influences. You will see in the pillars the typical Hindu ornamentation.

Hindu sacraments are physical objects or markings that are considered sacred and used as a sign of devotion by the followers.

Details, details and more details. That’s what I was trying to get at the Qutub Minar, but it was a bit difficult. There where a lots of people walking, so I had to wait, look, compose and shoot very fast in order to get what I wanted.

What is history? History is the study of the past. Is it important? Is Very Important. Unfortunately, I used to go to places of rich of history and didn’t care much about it. Fortunately, now, thanks to photography, I’ve been focusing more on learning about the history of the places that Im visiting.
